Geomatrix™ Small-Opening Geosynthetics are flexible, uniaxial and biaxial geogrids. These geosynthetics are made of knitted high-tenacity polyester ribs, secured at their junctions, creating a positive interlock with the reinforced ground mass. They are coated with UV-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to protect the polyester yarns from U.V. degradation and add dimensional stability.
Geomatrix geogrids are designed to exceed the Federal Highway Administration’s requirements for creep (RFCR), installation damage (RFID), and durability (RFD) for geosynthetic reinforcement.
Geomatrix’s patented (small aperture geogrid reinforcement is designed for application in soils with U.S. Sieve Designation 40 (0.425 mm) or finer. The small-aperture geogrid is somewhat flexible to aid in Hurricane Storm Protection construction, however the longitudinal and transverse junctions are rigid to maintain uniform size. The geogrids work well for retaining walls, segmental retaining walls, steepened slopes, landslide stabilization, embankments and foundations over soft soils, lining system support and landfill closures.
